CANADA FOR NATURAL WONDERS
Canada’s
enormous size means it spans many different types of terrains and is home to
some of the finest natural spectacles on the planet. From the fall glory of its
vast forests to its icy glacial lakes and majestic mountains, there is plenty
to take your breath away in every season.
The Great Lakes
With their mighty winds and rolling waves, lakes Superior,
Michigan, Huron, Erie, and Ontario often resemble inland seas. Together, they
contain enough water to flood the whole of Canada. The largest, Lake Superior , is the biggest freshwater lake in the world. Enjoy exhilarating
watersports such as kayaking, or take a relaxing hike along its unspoiled
shores.
Canadian Rockies
Some of the towering peaks in the Canadian Rockies are so
high that they never lose their snow. This magnificent range includes 50
mountains over 10,000 ft (3,048 m) in height and encompasses five national
parks, four of which comprise a single UNESCO World Heritage Site
Rainforests
British Columbia’s lush Pacific coastboasts nearly a
quarter of the world’s temperate rainforest. Whether you’re hiking a backwoods
trail or driving a scenic road, keep an eye out for the diverse wildlife: bald
eagles, cougars, wolves, and bears can all be spotted here.
Whale Watching
Churchill offers the best chance to see the striking
white beluga whales, known as the White Ghosts of the North. You can also
observe them in Tadoussac , along with many other types of whale. Rare
narwhals, too, can be spotted in Canada’s remote Arctic waters
